My Story

Hello, I’m Miguel.

My journey in coffee began more than a decade ago, serving cups from a small coffee truck in the south of France. What started as a nomadic project soon grew into something much bigger: Café Lihue, a specialty coffee brand that would become one of the most respected in the country. In 2023, I was incredibly honored to place 3rd in the French Roasting Championship organized by the Specialty Coffee Association.

Those years were a whirlwind of learning. I roasted countless batches of coffee, built teams, and traveled the world for fairs in Tokyo, London, Paris, and Taipei. I visited farms to learn directly from producers, but I also learned from every customer, sommelier, and fellow taster I met. Every conversation shared over a cup taught me something new.

After years in Europe, I felt a pull to come home to Chile, to be closer to my family. And here, from my hometown in the beautifull south of Chile, this new chapter of my journey begins.

This project is the sum of all those experiences, the craft, the sensitivity, and a deep respect for origin. It’s my way of sharing honest, beautifully roasted coffees that are filled with history.

At the heart of my work is a simple idea that has been with me from the beginning: to honor the communities at the source. It’s about recognizing the immense work and dedication that goes into producing a truly high-quality coffee. I wanted to build something where fairness isn’t just a goal, but the entire foundation. That means ensuring that the farmers who grow this incredible coffee receive a just price for their labor, allowing their communities to thrive.

While I do my part, I also lean on dedicated partners who specialize in supporting coffee growers around the world. Together, we work to ensure that the people who make this all possible have the resources and support they need.

This commitment extends to how we treat our planet. For me, sustainability isn’t a marketing term; it’s a series of conscious choices I make every day.

It starts with sourcing, working with partners who ensure fair incomes and support local economies. It continues in my roasting, where I use a small, energy-efficient air roaster to reduce our carbon footprint without ever compromising on flavor. When it comes to packaging, the bags are eco-friendly, and I ship them to you in recycled boxes to minimize waste. I believe that by partnering only with people who share these values, we can create something that is good for both people and the planet.

Our love and passion for coffee are what brought my husband and me together, and it’s the reason we started Herrera Roasters. We strive to make every cup of coffee an extraordinary experience for our customers.
